Yima

Yima
   In the Zoroastrian Creation Legend, Yima was warned of the Flood by Ahura Mazda and told to build a Var, a cave or enclosure, in the Persian mountains in which representatives of all classes of things living should take refuge until the Flood was over. When the disaster had passed Yima sent the bird Karshipta to carry news of his safety to any survivors. The story that the treasure of Yima is still hidden in a cave remains a part of modern Persian tradition. Yima was invited to carry out a religious reform similar to that of Zarathustra, but refused to do so. Yima corresponds to the Vedic Yama.
